Traditions of Men

This is very similar to the 4 part video series I posted early on in this blog. Thought it is similar, it has some very interesting stuff that is different. I'm not posting the direct audio, but a link to where you can download it and listen for free on the source website.

Please go check it out. I know it is a lot to listen to, but if you make it through the first and maybe the second (of 6), you might have plenty to study tonight.

Here is the link to the Traditions Series audio downloads.

Enjoy. And let me know what you think if you have a chance.

The American Dream

I'm reading Radical by David Platt. It has got me thinking about what I'm going to choose. What I'm going to do with my resources (time, money, energy, thoughts, ideas, job, home, friends, passions, etc.).

I have a pretty long list of known needs after our meeting last night. Now theology and planning needs to be put into practice. Choose and then DO. Choosing is nothing without action toward your choice.

I found these two videos on bluefishtv, and wanted to share them. There are more videos you can check out on their site, but these two related to my current reading material, so I'll share them here.

They talk about trading in the American Dream for a world in need of Christ.

Small Group Approach

A humorous illustration that shows how one small group approaches non-believers in their neighborhood.

It was funny until I caught a glimpse of myself on the bus at about the 1:14 minute mark.

Okay, So I'm Not Perfect

Do you wonder if you are qualified to lead others? I do, especially now starting a small group.

Here is a video from bluefishtv. They have a ton of videos that are pretty funny, and convicting.

This video is titled "Flaws of Biblical Proportions".

The Shallow Small Group

I found this video while doing some research on what to do with a small group gathering. We are going to start having people over to our home during the week, and I don't want it to become this...

Silence Is Deadly

I came across this video at EMISSARY^7 (G²).

The audio is a little fuzy, but the message is clear.

Go Love Sinners

A good example of who we should be friends with... the same people Jesus was friends with. Sinners.

Does Anybody Hear Her

A look at the social gospel and how we get too focused on ourselves instead of what we need to be doing as a church... being the salt of the earth.

Does Anybody Hear Her by Casting Crowns

Stained Glass Masquerade

Seems like a symptom of the traditional, worship service oriented church.

The Danger of Intellectualism

What Is Simple Church?

Is church the greatest spectator sport in America, where you watch a performance and get entertained?

House Church

Many questions about scriptural church.

Check out the testimony at 44:55.

The Clergy/Laity Church Lie

Interesting statements regarding everyone being the sheep, everyone being the same.

"They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, 'Rabbi, Rabbi.' But you, do not be called 'Rabbi'; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren. Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." -Matthew 23:6-12

Rethinking Church

Interesting video warning that a "house church" is not the root answer. It is the personal relationships, confessing our sins to each other, so that we can really be the church. He says, "Not playing our cards close to our chest".
